My name is Laurel, and I own Glassometry Studios, soon to be located in Hood River, OR. I am a glass and metal sculptor, trained in Ohio, Kentucky, Washington, North Carolina, and Italy (of all places). Having had the opportunity to study and submerge myself in sculpture/glass techniques and training, I moved to being a teacher, artist, and business owner.
On that path I was hired by Savoy Studios, a large art glass firm in the wonderful most lovely and liberal city of Portland, OR where I moved just 6 years ago. I continued to learn, labor, and listen to my heart’s desire to make my way to being a full time artist owning a significant glass and metal sculpture studio.
After much sacrifice, that is now what I do. And in 2010 I will unveil and open my new studio which will house 8500 sq foot studio and gallery space, flanked by a in progress sculpture garden and beautiful view of Mt Adams. Located just a 1/4 mile off rt 35, also known as the fruit loop in Hood River, I will offer locals and tourists a new stop of delectable visual stimulation from glass sculpture, to outdoor large scale art, to glass blowing demos coupled with a view.
